Captain Cook’s Monument & Roseberry Topping
Anyone who visits North Yorkshire will be aware of these two landmarks. They have
always been a favourite photo subject of mine, so as a result I have got quite a
number of images of them. Due to the number of photographs I have, I have decided
to create separate pages for these subjects -
Captain Cook’s Monument
Easily one of the most significant landmarks in North Yorkshire, Captain Cook’s monument stands on top of Easby Moor, in tribute to the famous seafaring explorer. To get to it is quite a pleasant walk and not too strenuous, and as such is always very popular with visitors. As this iconic structure is quite local to me, it is a subject I have photographed quite often.
Captain Cook’s Monument and Roseberry Topping
The two landmarks sit quite close together; indeed, you can do a very pleasant walk taking in both. As a result of this, I have created quite a number of photographs featuring both of them together. They make a very attractive pairing, I think.
Roseberry Topping
The Yorkshire Matterhorn!
One of the best known natural peaks in North Yorkshire, and always very popular amongst walkers. The walk to the summit is quite manageable and very enjoyable. Over the years, with Roseberry Topping being such a distinctive hill, I have been able to take a lot of photos of it, including some after snowfall which transforms it into a truly stunning icon of the landscape.
